Lesson 9: Alif Elongations

Alif-Madd

In the Mushaf it is an Alif with an upright Fatha above it. In Braille it is the sign ⠜(dots 3,4,5), it is pronounced elongated by one Alif measure as ‘aa’.

Waw-Alif

In the Mushaf it is written as a Waw with a sign above it; it elongates the preceding letter as ‘aa’ and is written as ⠼(dots 3,4,5,6). It is used in a few words.
